BIX Update - April 2017

Another month has whizzed by with April evaporating all too quickly for my liking. Thankfully though, despite a third of the year rapidly disappearing into the rear-view mirror, BIX has its eyes firmly fixed on the road ahead.

It has once again been a stellar month on the system with plenty of cool stuff having been traded. Clearly, my last update proved to be a useful one, with some of you deciding that a little cellar spring clean was in order. However the great thing about BIX as a virtual ‘outlet’ is that its scale is unlimited... so there’s always more shelf space for any wines you want to offer for sale.

We’re of course now about enter the month of May and with that, the silly season of En Primeur 2016 is almost upon us and it would be remiss of me not to mention it. It’s going to be a big one folks so definitely keep your eyes keenly trained to our En Primeur pages and get your pre-orders in early. By getting those pre-orders in, you’re giving yourself the best chance of securing an allocation on release of what is widely reported as being a memorable vintage.

That being said, you can’t drink any of those for a good while… but there’s plenty on BIX that you most definitely can tuck into. In fact, a scour through the website as a whole quickly reveals that many of the most interesting things being offered are actually BIX stock. When you think about it, it’s not that surprising – we tend to sell out our allocations of new wines on release, so there’s not much left hanging around. However a few years later, when clients decide they bought too much or their tastes have perhaps shifted, this maturing, perfectly stored stock finds its way back onto the market, now via BIX! It’s the ultimate win-win.

Here’s a look at some of the more mature wines on offer, with a smattering of large formats for good measure:

Grattamacco 1997 en magnum – 6 available

Beaucastel CNDP 1994 – 1c/s available

Trimbach Cuvee Fredrich Emile 1989 – just…wow!

Salon le Mesnil 1997 – 2c/s of 6 available

Conterno Fantino Barolo Sori Ginestra 1999 – 1c/s of 6 available

I’m sure you don’t need reminding about some of the amazing things that you’ve already missed out on – but I’ll remind you anyway.

Cos d’Estournel 1982

Vega Sicilia ‘Unico’ 2004

Mouton 1995 en magnum

Pavie 1998

Haut Brion 1990 en magnum

Krug 1995 jeros

The one thing I can’t stress enough is to make sure you check out our Latest BIX Offers page to see what’s available, as it is constantly moving. If you’re currently on the side line, it’s time for you to get off the bench and into the game by going through your cellar online, getting ruthless and get trading. It’s so easy to do and on the odd occasion when our valuation system can’t reach the required confidence level to offer you an automatic price – and you do need to request a price to list your precious cases at – I will get back to you as quickly as I can so that your wines are up and available to be traded.
