BIX Update – June 2017

Well as you might imagine, the last two months have been dominated by the amazing 2016 Bordeaux En Primeur campaign. With so many incredible wines to choose from one might think that BIX was rather pushed to the sidelines... but nothing could be further from the truth. As for every individual who wants to own something from new, there’s another who wants to take advantage of the fact that YOU (or someone rather like you) bought too much of something, which has since risen somewhat in value... and thus finds its way onto the BIX platform.

Here are some of the treats you missed in the past few weeks (sorry!)

Latour 1982 in mags – these were so beautiful it’s hardly surprising they went so quickly

Mouton ’82 imperial – again, a marvel now owned by a very happy individual

A bundle of Lafleur 2004, including a double mag – rare as hen’s teeth

Chateau Rayas 2006 – not much of this around nowadays

Salon 1996 – still 10+ years away from its best but almost impossible to find

Here are some treasures that you might still be in time to catch – they need rehoming like a cute King Charles Spaniel:

Las Cases 1998 – loose bottles available!

Henri Bonneau Cuvee Marie Beurrier and Reserve des Celestins 2000

Beaucastel CNDP Blanc 2012

Barroche ‘Pure’ 2010 in magnum – super, super rare! As in, impossible to find rare – not even the best truffle hunting dog would find you any!

Ausone 2003 in magnum

Beaucastel 1989 – a duty paid gem

Georges Noellat Echezeaux 2012 in magnum – the rising star of Burgundy

Don’t delay – take a look here at what’s recently added to our list from BIX...

BI Reserves – It Just Makes Sense

When it comes to storing your finest wines for either your dining table or investment portfolio, you’ll often muse over some of the most commonly asked questions;

What temperature should I store my wines at?

What’s the ideal level of humidity?

Whilst the answers to these types of questions are often open to opinion, one thing is for certain – storing your wines securely in a facility with the latest technology that provides the optimal storage conditions is absolutely essential. That’s where we come in.

Our purpose built facility at Octavian’s Colerne Reserve offers you the perfect blend of modern technology with old-school wine storage know-how. Perfectly regulated temperature and humidity controls (engineered in Germany, so you know they work!) and LED lighting ensures that your precious investments are taken care of to the highest level. The physical racking itself, which I’ll admit is boring to most but important to me, is also custom built for the space inside the warehouse so that every single case is stored in its correct position and as safely as possible.

After all, you wouldn’t go to a tailor for a suit without getting measured up, would you?

No detail is overlooked, right down to the forklifts themselves that use sensors mapped to the warehouse floor so that the racks cannot be knocked over. We’ve all seen that clip on YouTube (look it up if you haven’t)…it can happen! Another huge plus is that our facility is above ground, so no pesky damp ruining your precious original Chateau wooden or cardboard cases - and, with the latest CCTV technology monitoring every inch of the site, we’ve definitely got you covered.

I’ve been doing this now for a long time and I truly believe that if you store your wines with us, you’ll be storing in the finest facility available anywhere in the UK.

In addition to this, by storing your wines with us, you get exclusive use of our valuation services, LiveTrade and the BIX broking service that allows you to trade out parts of your collection with other wine buyers.
