We were met with another early release this morning to kick off the 2017 Bordeaux En Primeur campaign - Haut Batailley– whose triumphant 2017 has been released today at GBP 495. Formerly in the ownership of one wing of the Borie family, Haut Batailley is now owned by the Cazes family of Lynch Bages fame and managed by our good friend Jean-Charles Cazes. Through focusing on sheer quality they are moving the perception of this wine much closer to its more illustrious neighbours. Haut Batailley was always one of our favourite ‘great value’ wines and the good news is that under its new ownership, the first vintage for which the Cazes family were fully responsible has turned out to be an absolute cracker. In fact it is one of the few 2017s which has outperformed its 2016 counterpart!  Jeb Dunnock awarded it 92-94 points calling it “a rockstar 2017… Bravo!”

We have also seen a further few releases today, from the Magrez stable we have the St Emilions of Fombrauge and Magrez Fombrauge at GBP 207 and GBP 960 respectively.

There have also been a few more of the excellent Sauternes released over the course of yesterday afternoon and this morning:

Lafaurie Peyraguey at GBP 420

Sigalas Rabaud at GBP 338

La Tour Blanche at GBP 338

Rayne Vigneau at GBP 385

Doisy Vedrines has been released exclusively in halves at GBP 320 per case of 24.
