A wine of intensity, richness and effortless charm, La Mission Haut Brion 2018 is released this morning at GBP 3000. This is one of the most exciting iterations of La Mission that we have tasted in years, with the kind of explosive richness and energy that typifies the great years of this wine. If ever there was a revision of the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, then La Mission Haut Brion would surely be on the roll call for First Growth status. Boasting more 100 (RP) pointers than either Lafite or Margaux. This wine is now sold out.

Also released today was the 'magnificent monster of a Montrose' (Lisa Perrotti-Brown) at GBP 1564. Montrose is another estate famed for its breadth, scale and impact, the winemaking process here in 2018 was based on minimal intervention, taking only the purest fruit and silkiest tannins from the grapes, and retaining the life-giving acidity. This wine is now sold out. La Dame de Montrose was also released at GBP 372. This might well be the best Dame we have ever tasted and looks a steal at the price – James Suckling even says it reminds him of the ’89 Montrose!
