The nose kicks off with complex, fragrant notes of dried flowers, crushed rocks and a mix of mocha and fruit compote, especially quince. On the palate a lovely toastiness overlays the pristine ripe fruitiness. It shows the fleshiness and Burgundian echoes of Pinot Noir (the blend is 72% Pinot Noir, 28% Chardonnay and 7% red wine) with attractive aromas of fruit jellies and warm tobacco. It has a wonderfully fresh finish with notes of blood orange and mandarin peel driving it joyously until the delicately phenolic, appropriately dry finish (6g/l dosage). This gives the wine a completeness that captures both the generosity and elegance of the vintage. A genuine class act!
