Aromas of currant and blueberries with minerals and flowers as well. Full body, with ultra-fine tannins and a lovely integrated tannin structure. It shows depth and beauty. Better in 2016.

What lovely balance to this wine with currants, pencil and berry. Full and velvety. Lovely all around.

Nicely polished, with a fresh, pure beam of kirsch and blackberry fruit, followed by bitter cherry, violet and iron. The finish is long and sleek. —J.M.

A major sleeper of the vintage, this under-the-radar Pauillac from the owners of Pichon Longueville Baron comes from a 42-acre vineyard, and the blend is divided equally between two grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Classic smoky barbecue notes intermixed with cassis, forest floor and cedar jump from the glass of this dense purple, thick, unctuously textured, rich and heady wine, which can be drunk in 3-4 years. Moreover, it should last for up to two decades. This is normally not too expensive a wine, since consumers do not follow it closely, so readers should take note. Drink: 2013 - 2017

The Pibran ‘10 is a blend of 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon representing 60% of the total production. It has a strong tobacco, almost mulch-y bouquet that is well defined. It develops more stony scents with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine grip. It is a little angular at the moment and is a little terse towards the finish, although it is full of freshness and vitality. This will be an earlier drinking Pauillac. Tasted November 2012.

A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot (blended one month ago) aged in 50:50 in new oak and one year old barrels, the Pibran 2010 has a very pure, lifted nose of dark cherries, blackberry and a touch of red cherry sorbet. Good delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with tensile tannins on the entry, good acidity, fresh but very taut. Nice sharpness towards the finish with touches of graphite lingering on the aftertaste. Very fine. Drink 2013-2020. Tasted March 2011.

(60% GV, 13.8%) [50CS/50M] Black purple; dense to smell; with the faint fresh herbaceousness of Cabernet Sauvignon; clear, fine balance; a concentrated medium weight with a firm tannin and vigorous acidity; long, sapid, minerally flavour with a sweet core fruit, well defined by its acidity and gentle muscularity; excellent length and persistent. Lovely. 2016-26+ [M.Schuster, Bordeaux Mar/Apr 2011]
