Riva del Bric is a portion of the Ginestra cru, with 25-year-old vines planted on a very steep, well-draining slope. The 2011 Barolo Riva del Bric offers a delicate and ethereal interpretation of Nebbiolo from a warm vintage. The bouquet reveals cola, cherry, wild berry and spicy balsam herb. Indeed, the wine's tangy balsamic signature is its defining characteristic. There is a fleeting note of sweet blackberry fruit on the finish.
This is fabulous Barolo with burnt orange, blackberry, meat, earth, and fresh herb. Full-bodied, round and velvety. So flavorful and crazy. Drink now. Why wait? But it will age wonderfully.

The 2011 Barolo Riva del Bric is a bit richer and deeper than it usually is, yet all the elements are very nicely balanced throughout. Sweet floral notes meld into a core of expressive red stone fruits in a very pretty, delineated Barolo with lovely layers of nuance and plenty of near to medium-term appeal. In most vintages, the Riva del Bric is less complex than the Ginestra, but in 2011, the inverse is true.
