The 2004 L’Apparita is a decidedly more structured, mineral-driven expression of Merlot. This superb wine is packed with the essence of blackberry liqueur, chocolate, minerals and sweet toasted oak. Made in a super-ripe style it nevertheless possesses much vibrancy as well as balance. Anticipated maturity: 2010- 2020.
Shows plum and chocolate character, with hints of cedar and light toasty oak. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a long finish. Very chewy. Slightly hollow, but impressive. Merlot. Best after 2010. 430 cases made.
The 2004 L'Apparita shows the finesse that is the hallmark of this great Tuscan vintage. A silky, nuanced, feminine wine, the 2004 is pure class. Sweet tobacco, spices, flowers and dark red berries all flesh out in the glass. Today, the 2004 is a little more refined than the 2006. I hope to be able to taste them both again some day in the future. A superb, textured finish makes it impossible to resist a second, and then a third, taste. This is a wine of the heart and soul. Wow! Drink 2014 - 2034. – vinous.com, Jun 2013
