Produced from vines planted in calcareous and stony soils, the 1997 Vouvray Moelleux Le Clos du Bourg 1er Trie exhibits aromas reminiscent of smoke, clay, chalk, and candied lemons. This medium-bodied, penetrating, as well as super-rich wine is balanced, concentrated, and intense. Layers of earth, apples, figs, white peaches, and minerals are found in this magnificent sweet wine's flavor profile and stupendous length. Presently somewhat austere and reserved, it will benefit from a few years of cellaring. Projected maturity: 2003-2025+. -Pierre Rovani
