Tasting Notes and Scores

Wine Advocate

On of my favorite Beauregards in many a year, this vintage is very sexy and lush, with caramelized mocha, chocolate, black cherry fruit, some loamy soil notes, sweet tannins and a voluptuous, fleshy, succulent mouthfeel. It is nearly impossible to resist at present and should continue to drink well for at least another 12-15 years. Drink: 2013 - 2028

2010: An opaque purple-colored, dense, tannic, powerful Pomerol, the 2010 Beauregard exhibits a muscular framework, abundant tannin and impressive concentration as well as sweet fruit. Atypically backward for a Pomerol, it requires 3-5 years of cellaring and should drink well for two decades. Tasted twice.

Tasted at the Union de Grand Cru in London. The Beauregard has a forward, rounded, alluring bouquet of brambly red fruit, hints of truffle and dark chocolate, the Cabernet Franc showing through nicely. The palate is medium-bodied with leather and sage on the entry. It is nicely balanced, relatively forwards with a saline touch towards the grippy finish. Very....Pomerol! Tasted November 2012.

Tasted at the Syndicat de Pomerol. The 2010 has a very typical Beauregard nose: not intense but generous and broad with faint sandy notes inflecting the light red-berried fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly gritty tannins, not a deep wine or complex but long in the mouth and well balanced. This will make very fine early drinking Pomerol. Tasted April 2011.

Michael Schuster

(36hl/ha, 14%, 55% New) [80M/20CF] Closed, but darkly ripe fruit; fresh blackberries; rich, full, concentrated, with a gentle muscle of firm tannin; an abundant fruit full of freshness and vitality; tannins yes, but velvety; long, complex and intense for the cru with creamy textured length. Lovely wine, complete, rich, vivid. 2020-30+ [M.Schuster, Bordeaux Mar/Apr 2011]

Wonderful aromas of blueberries, blackberries and dark chocolate. Full-bodied, with polished and juicy tannins and a long finish with a gorgeous depth of fruit and spices. Best Beauregard in years. Better in 2018.

A silky wine, with some blackberry and licorice character. Full and fine. A little short on the finish.
