The great value second wine of Gruaud Larose. Ripe, clear, decent quality of blackcurrant, black cherry and strawberry fruit. Vibrant acidity, fresh and clean. Well balanced all things considered. (72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc.)
The 2015 Sarget de Gruaud-Larose is a blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 8% Petit Verdot. It has a modest nose, rather tight and a little distant at the moment, with dusky black fruit, rather introverted in style. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly coarse tannin, moderate depth but requiring more breeding to come through on the finish
A round and tannic wine with currant and berry character. Full body, flavorful and stylish. Nice effort for second wine of Gruaud-Larose.
