Gevrey Chambertin Petite Chapelle does exactly what it says on the tin. It is the continuation down the slope from Chapelle Chambertin Grand Cru. As opposed to the top Premier Crus North East of the village, Petite Chapelle produces silky, elegant, refined wines that age well but often drink well in youth. Perfect Gevrey – spicy and gamey with dark berries and grippy tannins – needs age, but will be delicious in a few years.
Very generous wood marks the nose of raspberry liqueur and wet stone aromas. There is a lush, round and lavish mouth feel to the pleasantly textured medium-bodied flavors that possess fine volume on the firm if not especially vibrant flavors that offer very good depth and length. Like several other wines in the range, it's possible that this was fatigued. Drink: 2019+
