The 2015 Macon Vergisson la Roche is raised in Burgundy barrels with some new oak. It has a sensual bouquet with scents of shaved almond, even peaches and cream infusing the citrus fruit. The palate is well balanced with tangible salinity on the entry, then reverting to a taut and linear second half with plenty of spice, white peppers and a touch of wild fennel furnishing the satisfying finish. I appreciate the persistence here, and it should age well in bottle.
