This small 4.4-hectare Castillon estate has turned in a fine performance with the 2021 D'Arce. Exhibiting aromas of cherries, red berries and a deft touch of creamy new oak, it's medium-bodied, velvety and vibrant, with ripe tannins and a bright spine of acidity, typical of these cold limestone soils. It's matured part in tank, part in barrel.
William Kelley, April 2022
The 2021 Château d’Arce is a small production that Hélène Garcin-Lévêque attributes to old vines. It has an open-knit, red berry and crushed limestone bouquet where the terroir really comes through. The palate is well balanced with crunchy red fruit, fine acidity, good mineralité and a linear finish. Maybe it lacks the substance for the long term, but this Côtes de Castillon should drink well for a decade after bottling in July 2021.
Neal Martin, Vinous, May 2022
The 2021 D'Arce is a soft, easygoing Côtes de Castillon that will drink well right out of the gate. Crushed red berry fruit, mint, spice, cedar and orange peel lend brightness to this attractive, mid-weight offering from Hélène Garcin and Patrice Lévêque. Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2022
