Gary Boom was born in South Africa, and holds a BSc in Finance from the university of Cape Town. Between 1985 and 2001, Gary worked for a range of London money brokers specialising in interest rate options, and was a director at Intercapital Group. Gary founded Bordeaux Index in 1997 in London, opened an office in Hong Kong in February 2007, in Singapore in December 2011, and in LA in April 2013. Outside work, Gary loves travel, Burgundy, shooting and Arsenal.
Michelle gained her BSc in Genetics from Queen Mary University of London. During her doctorate in chromosomal genetics, she decided it was time for a change of scenery. After travelling the world for a few years as a PA she met Gary quite by accident and was lured into the world of fine wine. As luck would have it, this is where she ended up meeting her husband. Ten years later, Michelle has learnt the language of wine and while she doesn't claim to be anything of an expert, she is happiest with a glass of vintage Champagne in her hand or a bottle of Burgundy.
Kat joined Bordeaux Index in March 2019 after 23 years in advertising. A qualified accountant she most recently held a global role addressing strategic and operational challenges for an international marketing network. Bordeaux Index is her first foray into the wine industry and she is enjoying broadening her knowledge of fine wines and spirits in a dynamic, future focussed company.

Prior to joining the company, Matthew spent more than a decade working for Goldman Sachs' Investment Banking Division in London, after completing a Classics degree at St. John's College, Cambridge University. Outside of work, Matthew is a keen gardener and a charity trustee for the Historic England Foundation.
"My father never really worked, but got cash from various sources. He'd make commission on a deal and blow it on the horses"... Not strictly true, as Andrew says his father also spent some money on fine wine, which is how he developed his love of Claret and subsequently, all the wines of Europe. Since joining Bordeaux Index, Andrew has met and made friends with people for whom wine is a passion. His palate is now in a state of confusion!
Seb started in the wine trade in 1991 through the traditional route of van driver and worked in various areas of the wine trade until he finally found his niche in sales. Seb was one of the founding members who assisted in setting up Bordeaux Index in 1997, proudly becoming a director and partner of the business in 2004. He spends his spare time sharing fine wine and food with family and friends, listening to live music, following Chelsea and planning which city to run his next marathon in.
David trained in Oenology at Roseworthy College in Adelaide and went on to work vintages at Chateau Cissac in Bordeaux, Taylor's in the Douro Valley and Mount Adam and Turkey Flat in South Australia. Upon returning to the UK, David spent 5 years working agency-side managing a portfolio of French wine brands. David then honed his retail skills, establishing a small independent wine merchant which grew to four shops in Hampshire, before joining Bordeaux Index in 2010 and still likes to get his hands dirty during the vintage out in Bordeaux.
Tom joined the trade over two decades ago off the back of a trip to Tuscany and hasn't looked back. He spent the first decade working in the more traditional wine world; learning from some of the old past masters who gave him great exposure to many wonderful and mature vintages. The subsequent ten years have been spent at Bordeaux Index predominantly looking after private clients, many of whom have become very close friends. He loves nothing better than a good Roast Chicken and several bottles of fine wine... Port of course and a bottle of Madeira. He will happily discuss the merits of the Welsh rugby team, spend an afternoon on the river fishing or will happily show you pictures of his four children.
Born and raised in the sunny Languedoc Roussillon region, Catherine developed a passion for French wine early on. After University in Montpellier, she moved to London to start her career in the wine industry. She joined Bordeaux Index in 2007, where she has been developing her client base as well as her expertise in wine and Champagne ever since. In her spare time, you can often find her cycling in Richmond Park or perfecting her Mediterranean cuisine.
Amanda developed an interest in wine early on in life, so after studying French & Spanish at Newcastle University she made her way to London and joined Bordeaux Index where she made her passion into a career. Now based permanently up in North Yorkshire, she aims to provide shooting estates up and down the country with the best wines possible, and still frequents London regularly. She lives in the beautiful AONB of Nidderdale with her young family and a very besotted spaniel.
Anneka is first and foremost a wine lover, in spite of her WSET Diploma. She came from the restaurant world and still feels at home there, or any place that serves proper Burgundy and Northern Rhone. Her perpetual dilemma in life is a love of cool climate viticulture and hot climate travel. Her biggest fear is missing out on DRC.
Katie's passion for wine began at a young age, the moment she started to read in fact, when her father began handing her the wine list at every restaurant, so it was a natural progression to start working at a wine bar in Oxford the moment she turned 18. After completing her degree at the University of Newcastle, she headed straight out to the Duoro and fully immersed herself - up to the knees - treading on grapes in the lagars every day. After spending a couple of years at another merchant in London, she joined the sales team at Bordeaux Index in 2017. Katie grabs every opportunity to travel so outside of work you will find her at a yoga retreat in Thailand, exploring the chalk caves of Champagne or relaxing in a piazza with a glass of Barolo after a day of exploring the art galleries of Rome.
Ellie fell in love with wine on a hedonistic trip to New Zealand shortly after finishing her Politics degree, and here she became passionate about all the New World has to offer. It follows that her desert island wine would be a salty, mineral, textual New World Chardonnay. After three years at another wine merchant, Ellie joined Bordeaux Index in 2017. She spent two happy years in the marketing team, with a particular focus on our events. In 2019 her passion for wine naturally drew over to the sales team (taking events with her) where she looks after private clients. Outside of work, Ellie's obsession with food is almost as great as her obsession for wine and she spends much of her time perfecting her sourdough breadmaking skills and meticulously researching which restaurant to visit next.
Camilla's passion for wine began back when she was just a child. Her grandfather Orlando bought grapes and made his own wine in his basement in Northern Italy. After studying at University in Milan, Camilla moved to London to work in hospitality and continue her passion for wine. It was here where her knowledge and passion developed and if you were to ask her what her favourite island wine is, she could make an entire list! Although she loves life in London, she sometimes misses the Italian food and family warmth but she keeps herself busy. In her spare time, you will find Camilla visiting London Art galleries, baking cakes for her friends or boxing in south London.
Philippe had the good fortune to grow up in a great wine region, the Languedoc; as such working in the wine industry was a natural career choice! After finishing University in Montpellier, Philippe worked in the wine trade in Paris before relocating to London in order to get a new perspective on the industry. Philippe started at Bordeaux Index in 2009 and is now doing what he's most passionate about - Purchasing. Philippe enjoys running, hiking, travel – and of course, great wine.
Giles started in the wine trade straight out of his post-graduate degree, grafting on the shop floors of Majestic Wine before moving up to Head Office. Following a brief sojourn in the culinary industry Giles joined Bordeaux Index as Head of Marketing, a role he held for over 7 years until moving into the Purchasing Team as New World and Spain buyer. The only thing Giles likes as much as wine is cricket.
A native of Birmingham, Oliver studied languages at Leeds University and then began his wine career with a high street merchant, before joining Bordeaux Index in 2006. Pastry, bread making and pretty much everything related to food!

Having grown up in a family of wine-lovers, Richard was exposed to all things alcohol from an early (ish!) age. Whilst initially only ever allowed to drink wine, his interest was piqued enough by a bottle of Glen Grant whisky found in his Grandfather's drinks cabinet and he hasn't looked back since. A stint across various London merchants before assuming control of all Spirits Buying for a leading shop, he is now looking forward to telling everyone about all things spirits! In his spare time, you may well find him sampling from his own whisky casks or playing bass guitar in his band.
Guy's first foray into the trade was during a work experience stint in a restaurant in central Spain, where the owner had been one of the country's best sommeliers. However, being a Scot in all things but the accent, whisky was never too far away! Back in the UK, he managed a couple of independent wine and spirit merchants, before moving into the buying side at one of London's luxury department stores, and subsequently onto one of the UK's largest online specialist retailers of spirits, where he was the Head Buyer for four years. He regularly judges for various wine and spirit competitions and looks forward to preaching the gospel of spirits at Bordeaux Index. When not at one of London's bars or restaurants, he can usually be found satisfying his near-obsessive thirst for cricket at Lord's, a well hit six away from his home.

When not working or tasting wine, he enjoys playing with all things 2 wheeled, 6 stringed and exploring the great outdoors.
After completing his studies in the UK and California, Guy joined the wine trade back in 2003 as something "fun to do" while he figured out how to make use of his degree. Within 6 months he discovered that a career in wine is what he had wanted to do all along, he just hadn't realised it yet. Guy later joined Bordeaux Index in London in 2007, transferred to Hong Kong in 2010 and has been running our businesses in Asia since 2015. When he is not talking about wine, writing about wine or indeed drinking wine, Guy can be found gallivanting around the world exploring new places, discovering different cultures and meeting new people.
After over 20 years in Advertising & Marketing, Angelina decided a change was long overdue and jumped at the opportunity when she was offered a job in wine investment in 2007. In that time, she got to know Bordeaux Index and was offered the opportunity to join the family in 2010, taking on the challenge of kick-starting Bordeaux Index's presence in Singapore that same year in June. Fast forward a decade later, Angelina's efforts have cemented Bordeaux Index's place as one of the most successful wine and spirits businesses in Singapore and South East Asia. Outside of work, Angelina loves being pampered at spas and travelling with her family.

Keith began his career in wine back in 2002. After 6 years with Hong Kong's largest wine retailer Keith joined Bordeaux Index's Hong Kong team in 2008 where he has remained a permanent fixture ever since. A Bordeaux and Burgundy man, there are few wine companies that can match Keith's individual sales of Classed Growth Claret and Grand Cru Burgundy during the last 10+ years. Working with different Brits during his time at Bordeaux Index, Keith has become a connoisseur of English humour. Outside of work and wine, Keith enjoys spending time with his family and two dogs; Choco and Kimchi.
A native of Kobe, Japan, Ichie's passion for wine began while studying in Pennsylvania (of all places). After acquiring a BS in Business/Hospitality Management, Ichie's path less-travelled, finally led her across the Atlantic, when in 2000, she joined a prominent London-based Fine Wine Broker. Ichie has never looked back since, later working for the world's oldest wine merchant before finally finding her home at Bordeaux Index in 2008. A walking encyclopedia of the great wines of Burgundy, when Ichie doesn't have her nose in a glass or a book, she enjoys yoga, cooking and travelling.
