Tasting Notes and Scores

Michael Schuster

(88% M, 10% CF, 2% MAL; 40% new)
Plummy nose; rich, fleshy midweight with the year’s characteristic fresh acidity and firmish tannins; moderately complex, but a gently fleshy, flowing wine, with very nice light length, too. It will need a bit of time. 2027–37.

James Suckling

A wine with a solid core of blackberry, hazelnut and walnut character. It’s full and compact with beautiful fruit and a long, linear finish. Fine, velvety tannins. Juicy finish. Some lavender and crushed stone at the end.

Antonio Galloni

The 2020 L'Enclos is an attractive, midweight Pomerol. Crushed flowers, spice, leather, cedar and red berry fruit are all laced together in a pretty wine that will drink well right out of the gate. The L'Enclos gains brightness in the glass as floral and spice notes taken on greater prominence. I very much like the energy here.

Jeff Leve

Plummy, silky, fresh, medium-bodied and already focusing on its core of chocolate-covered plums, licorice and espresso. You should be able to enjoy this on with just a year or two of age. 89-91

Jeb Dunnuck

Lots of bright blue fruits, damp earth, sous bois, and chocolaty notes emerge from the 2020 Château L'Enclos, which is medium-bodied and has good mid-palate depth as well as some chewy, savory tannins. It’s not up with the top wines of the vintage, but it should certainly be outstanding and has lots of character.
