The 2020 Olivier Blanc sings of fresh Bosc pears, yellow apples and waxed lemons, plus hints of wet slate and fennel seed. The medium-bodied palate is clean, crisp and wonderfully refreshing, offering bags of citrus and apple-inspired flavors with a spicy kick on the finish.
The 2020 Olivier Blanc, matured in 35% new oak barrels, has a clean, well-defined nose of white flowers and honeysuckle, almond and subtle patisserie scents coming through with aeration. The palate is well balanced with lime and orange zest on the entry and fine acidity. Maybe just missing a little tension on the finish, but it should give several years of drinking pleasure.
A solid center palate of green apples and lemons with some stones. Full-bodied and layered with beautiful fruit and length. Tangy at the end.
Full bottle 1,305 g. Cask sample taken 6 April. 75% Sauvignon Blanc, 25% Se?millon. Aged in barrel (35% new) with lees stirring.
Pale greenish straw. Some attractive 'stoniness' on the nose here. Even a hint of grassiness before the richness, and even very slight oiliness, of barrel ageing kicks in. Good balance. This definitely has Pessac-Léognan weight and substance, and length too. Pungent, this has real capacity to age.
Crushed rock, waxy lemon, grapefruit, flowers, green apple and lemon oil shoots from the glass. Bright, fresh, creamy and juicy with Meyer lemon, tangerine and a drop of honey on the palate, this is already showing just great. 93
