Tasting Notes and Scores
“Drink [this] whenever you wish, with whomever you wish. The last to leave will be the angels who danced with the devil and won.” Bruichladdich Distillery’s own tasting notes.
This legendary limited release from the Bruichladdich Distillery on Islay is now in its fourth incarnation and it is more enigmatic than ever.
The Black Art is Master Distiller, Jim McEwan’s “personal voyage into the heart of Bruichladdich”. Working with American and French oak sourced from the greatest wine and spirits producers he conjured up this sublime dram.
The composition of casks is genuinely a mystery to all but its mischievous creator but we’ve seen the impressive range of wine casks Bruichladdich’s previous owners had access to – and this has clearly had time in some of the finest. All we know for certain though is that it was distilled in 1990 and aged for 23 years.
It’s a dark sensuous whisky, incredibly elegant and perplexingly complex… even its deep tawny hue is decadent.
Bruichladdich [brook-laddie] Black Art is un-peated Islay Single Malt Scotch whisky.
Bottled at 49.2% ABV.
