Tasting Notes and Scores
This is named after Mount Pleasant’s iconic winemaker and made only in top years from the cream of the crop. From the Hunter’s best red vintage since 1965, the red and black currant and berry fruits show terrific intensity. Aged in large format French oak, sheer tannins and lively cranberry acidity drive home a long, pristine back-of-the-net finish with tantalising glimpses of the five-spice, roast chestnut and mineral notes to come.

See the 2021 for background information but 18 months in French oak barriques, 40% new . Screwcap. Red core with bricky rim. Much more minty than the 2021, a touch herbal, and yet that ripe fruit is at the core again. Spiced and leathery in aroma, smooth and leathery on the palate. Complex and distinctive. Very long, with a touch of black olive on the finish. (JH)
