Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2002 The Moonlight Run, a blend of 62% Grenache (120-year-old vines), 15% Shiraz (45-year-old vines), 15% Cinsault (80-year-old vines), and a touch of old vine Mourvedre, was aged for 18 months in old French hogsheads. This beauty offers up a gorgeous blueberry, blackberry, earth, pepper, and floral-scented bouquet. Rich and full-bodied, with no hard edges, a textured mouthfeel, and a fine finish, it will drink well for 4-5 years.
Wine Advocate
(based on 120-year-old grenache, with 15% shiraz , 15% cinsault and 8% mourvedre) Deep medium ruby. Superripe aromas of black cherry, dark chocolate and roasted herbs, plus a porty suggestion of maple syrup. Fat and very rich, with thick, tactile flavors of roasted plum, raspberry and chocolate. A large-scaled wine in a Southern Rhone style. I might have rated this even higher but for a slight harshness to its tannins. (Epicurean Wines, Seattle WA
