1993 was a very light harvest because of excessive rainfall and mild growing conditions. This wine performed well, although it would not appear to have the nuances of the finest vintages of Grange. The wine, a blend of 86% Shiraz and 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, has an opaque purple color, a sweet nose of black currants intermixed with cedar, and earthy, almost truffle-like notes intermixed with some camphor. A blend of 86% Shiraz and 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, this has a dark black/garnet core. Not opaque but close. A pure blueberry and plum nose that has good definition but not the complexity I expected. A sweet core of blueberry fruit on the mid-weight palate. Balanced with good acidity though nothing to distinguish this as "Grange" rather than a good Australian. Some tinned prunes on the finish. Smooth texture. A pretty wine but nothing out of the ordinary. Tasted June 2004.
