Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Boundaries demonstrates how superb Barossa Cabernet can be. Aged 30 months in primarily old French (70%) and new American (30%) oak, it is a singular, distinctive effort offering notions of lead pencil shavings, tar, spice box, cedar, and juicy black currants. Deep, full-bodied, and rich with velvety tannin and a 45 plus second finish, this beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon should age effortlessly for 15 or more years.

If you haven’t yet noticed, Christian Canute is one of Australia’s finest young mavericks. At the ripe old age of 28, he’s doing work that suggests someone with twice as much experience. Ruby-red. Fresh redcurrant, cherry and plum on the nose, with hints of sweet herbs and eucalyptus-sure smells like cabernet to me. Sweet and round, the fruit tones taking a sweeter, darker turn and picking up notes of tobacco and roasted coffee. Finishes pliant, sweet and long, with gentle tannins framing the sweet fruit and a late note of tangy rhubarb sneaking in.
