Tasting Notes and Scores
A brilliant effort, the 2001 Shiraz (Second Release) was aged 30 months in 3-year-old French casks. Full-bodied, powerful, rich, and well-balanced with well-integrated wood, acidity, and tannin as well as spectacularly pure blackberry and cassis fruit infused with touches of charcoal, smoke, and new saddle leather, it should drink well for 10-15 years.

While not up to the 2002, the 2001 The Standish Wine Company Shiraz The Standish is dense and concentrated with very ripe fruit (but not overtly sweet),integrated oak and a long finish.

Treacle toffee on the nose. Very dark, even though 2001. Sweet start and dry finish. Smooth and salty taffy. Well handled. Already quite mellow. (JR)
