The 2016 Arômes de Pavie has a deep garnet-purple color and is a little closed to begin, slowly revealing notes of crushed red and black cherries, raspberry preserves, plum pudding, blueberry pie and prunes with touches of espresso, star anise, cumin seed and wood smoke plus a waft of dusty soil. The 2016 Arômes de Pavie is a delicious second wine from Pavie. Juicy, succulent and expressive, the 2016 is showing very well today. Racy red and purplish fruit, spice and new leather flesh out in the glass. The 2016 Arômes de Pavie, the Deuxième Vin of Château Pavie, is a blend of 66% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Franc and 13% Cabernet Sauvignon cropped at 42 hectoliters per hectare and matured in 50% new oak. It has a powerful and voluminous bouquet with sweet ripe black cherries, blueberry and a dash of black pepper. The palate is full-bodied with a firm grip in the mouth, a powerful and demonstrative Arômes de Pavie that just needs a little less new oak on the finish.
