The ripe fruit with spices and chocolate are abundant for the vintage. Full and velvety. Beautiful yet slightly one-dimensional.

Good full ruby-red. Spicy aromas of blueberry, coffee and bitter chocolate. Quite suave on entry, then sweet, lush and deep in the middle, with good lift to the cassis, coffee and violet flavors. Turns a touch austere on the firmly structured, persistent aftertaste.

Tasted three times en primeur. The Beauregard 2011 has a well-defined bouquet with briary and red fruits. There are pleasant earthy notes emerging with aeration. It is a quintessential Beauregard nose really. The palate is nicely balanced with a grainy finish: spicy and lively with a rather dry, foursquare finish. This will be an early to mid-term Pomerol. Tasted April 2012.

Held together primarily with wood; a dusty frame and toasted vanilla notes hold sway over only modest plum and cherry pie flavors, resulting in a slightly taut feel through the finish.-J.M.

Beauregard’s 2011 reveals dusty, earthy aromas intermixed with hints of crushed rocks and red fruits. It is medium-bodied, somewhat disjointed and finishes with a hint of dilution. Drink it over the next 5-6 years.

Drink 2017-2026 Very ripe black fruit and very toasty. Mocha too – and even more so on the palate. Lots of oak char, well-rounded tannins, fresh on the finish. Just a bit too oaky but it is lively in the middle so maybe it will settle? (JH)
