Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2016 Blason de l'Evangile is made up of 74% Merlot and 26% Cabernet Franc. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it features lovely warm red fruit notes—kirsch, raspberry pie and redcurrants—with a core of black plums, cracked pepper, pencil shavings and cloves. Medium-bodied, elegant, refreshing and packed with vivacious red berry flavors, it has a fine-grained texture and long perfumed finish.

Picked 26 September to 10 October. Lots of Cabernet Franc, 26%, because it suffers in the drought so it mostly went into this second wine. Amazingly deep colour with a bit of herbaceousness. But not aggressively so. This would be a very nice early drink. Lightly drying sandpaper tannins on the end. Good luxurious oak here! (JR)
