Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2021 Blason de L'Évangile is marked by bold, racy fruit and terrific energy. Crushed red berry fruit and lively floral notes abound in a classy, refined Blason. All the elements are impeccably balanced. Pretty floral accents grace the lifted, perfumed finish. The 2021 is a gorgeous Blason. Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2022

The 2021 Blason de l'Evangile has actually benefited, in a sense, from the frost, as the estate's lesser, sandier terroirs were hit hardest and represent a smaller proportion of the blend than usual. Bursting with aromas of plums, berries, violets, licorice and mint, it's medium-bodied, fleshy and suave, with powdery tannins and succulent acids. Some 20% was matured in tank and another 20% in foudre, leaving the wine's fruit in the foreground.

Exhibiting notions of sweet red berries, plums and rose petals, the 2021 Blason de l'Evangile is medium-bodied, lively and charming, with bright acids and powdery tannins. The estate's holdings near Château Beauregard were frosted, meaning that quantities are rather depleted this year. It's a blend of 84% Merlot and 16% Cabernet Franc.

The 2021 Blason de L'Évangile has a well-defined bouquet of blackberry, raspberry and briar scents, nicely focused, and not powerful but cohesive. The palate is medium-bodied with a supple entry. Not a complex Deuxième Vin, yet it does convey a sense of drinkability. A touch of spice enlivens the finish. Fine.
