Tasting Notes and Scores
This reliable property in the southern Médoc has produced a 2005 with loads of sweet black cherry and mocha, some spice and earth as well as a floral note. It is medium to full-bodied, surprisingly concentrated and very well-made. The final blend was 60% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. Drink it over the next 2-4 years. A sleeper of the vintage.

Saturated medium ruby. Cool, minty aromas of crushed black cherry and cassis. Suave on entry, then chewy and deeply fruity in the mouth, with good depth of dark berry and bitter chocolate flavor. This spreads out nicely on the back and finishes with rather lush tannins and good length. A very good showing.

This is lacking freshness and delineation on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied, ripe and animally but lacking some density and backbone on the finish. Drink soon. Tasted May 2008.

Very dark and dense. Rich and ripe and spicy. Good structure. Velvety texture. Just very slightly rusty nail on the end. (JR)
