Another sleeper of the vintage from this top-notch Moulis estate, Chasse Spleen's dark ruby/purple-tinged 2004 offers ripe black currant and sweet cherry aromas intermixed with subtle herb, underbrush, and oaky notes. Medium-bodied with good flesh as well as an attractive meatiness, it should be consumed over the next decade.

Medium ruby. Inky aromas of kirsch, licorice and flowers. Supple, fresh and aromatic, with pliant, nicely concentrated black cherry and floral flavors. Finishes with big but broad tannins. Tasted next to the Poujeaux, this came across as distinctly softer.
