Tasting Notes and Scores
A wine with wonderfully fresh and perfumed aromas with crushed flowers and berries. Full body, with super integrated tannins and a silky textured finish. This is refined and very pretty. Better than 2009. Drink or hold.

A wine that is almost salty as well as fruity. Full, juicy and lightly chewy.

The Chasse Spleen 2010 has a vibrant bouquet with touches of blackberry, singed leather and cedar that is nicely defined and opens more with aeration. The palate is citrus fresh on the entry with crisp tannins. It is lively, well defined with a spice-tinged, pepper finish that lends persistency. Excellent – although like other vintages I believe this will improve further in bottle. Tasted November 2012.

Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois primeur tasting. This has a lovely ripe blackberry, cassis and vanillary nose with beautifully integrated new oak. Seamless. The palate is medium-bodied with a rich, liquorice tinged entry, sappy dark berries, a touch of soy perhaps towards the finish. Unruly at the moment, ambitious and sure to make a big impression after bottling. Tasted April 2011.

A beautiful effort from Chasse-Spleen, this dense purple wine exhibits plenty of black currant and black cherry fruit with some licorice, roasted herbs and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied and supple, the final blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot has produced a fleshy, succulent style of Chasse-Spleen to drink over the next 15+ years. Drink: 2013 - 2028

2010: A strong effort, the tannic, medium to full-bodied 2010 possesses good minerality, zesty acidity, admirable freshness and both blue and black fruits. With impressive depth and length, this pure Moulis should drink well for 15+ years.
Wine Advocate
Lightly firm plum skin and cherry pit notes weave through the core of plum sauce, currant and blackberry fruit, with a perfumy tobacco-tinged finish. A touch old-school. (J.M.)
Wine Spectator
Cru Bourgeois Moulis. Rich, sweet Cabernet to smell with, currently, a faintly herbal quality; firm, tannic, moderately concentrated and fresh; plenty of matter within a sinewy frame. Moderately complex, nice fruit core and good fruit length, but shades of 2000 and 2005 and one wonders how it will develop. A fairly chewy vin de garde style, seems like one for the long haul. 2022-30+ [M.Schuster, Bordeaux Mar/Apr 2011]
