Tasting Notes and Scores

94-96 BI

Bordeaux Index

92 JS

This is very, very pretty, with plum, chocolate and cedar, plus hints of sweet tobacco. Full, very soft tannins. Savory and juicy. Delicious already, and hard not to drink it, but better in 2017. – jamessuckling.com, Feb rch 2014

James Suckling

90 WS

Offers a tarry feel and good drive, with kirsch, blackberry and bramble notes entwined at the core. The lingering tobacco edge hangs on the rugged finish. Should open up sooner rather than later. Drink now through 2021. – James Molesworth (WineSpectator.com, 2014)

Wine Spectator

88 RP

The 2011 La Chapelle de La Mission reveals abundant quantities of round, generous, black cherry and black currant fruit intermixed with hints of gravel and earth, sweet tannin, decent but unobtrusive acidity, and a nicely textured, lush mouthfeel. It is perfect for drinking now and over the next 10-15 years.

Jean-Philippe Delmas continues to quietly and authoritatively turn out one great wine after another at La Mission-Haut-Brion and Haut-Brion. 88 points – Robert Parker (Wine Advocate #212, April 2014)

Wine Advocate

87-89 NM

The La Chapelle de la Mission is a blend of 68.7% Merlot, 11.7% Cabernet Franc and 19.6% Cabernet Sauvignon, representing 47% of the crop. It has a light talcum nose, the Merlot expressive as one would expect given the blend, nicely defined but a little pinched. The palate is medium-bodied with angular tannins on the entry. It is a little disjointed at the moment, but there is a decent weight of earthy fruit and a terse citric finish. Fine. – eRobertParker.com, May 2012

Neal Martin

16/20 JR

Sweet vanilla-laced cassis fruit on the nose. Silky, fresh and elegant until the end, then a little tough on the finish. Drink: 2017-2027 - – Julia Harding (jancisrobinson.com, Jan 2015)
