Tasting Notes and Scores
Truffles and dark chocolate with dark fruits on the nose. Round and nicely filling, bright and buzzy, not tangy as the fruit and acidity isn't sharp or too high, this has a good sense of fun and easy enjoyment to it. Tannins are grippy and slightly salty and this has a lovely energy and focus to it. Not the most layered or plush but this has definite charm and a really easy drinability to it! Lovely. Drink today to enjoy but could be aged further.

The 2014 La Conseillante is a pretty wine, but it is also a bit light in the context of the vintage. Sweet floral notes, exotic spice and bright red-toned fruit are nicely pushed forward. As always, La Conseillante is one of the most delicate and elegant of Pomerols. Still, tasting the 2014 and 2013 side by side reveals a relatively small difference between the vintages, and certainly a smaller difference than most of the neighboring properties. Whether that is a function of the land or the result of winemaking decisions is the kind of question that will provide fascination for many years. Even so, this should age nicely. - vinous.com, Feb 2017

The 2014 La Conseillante has a well-defined bouquet with brambly red berry fruit, minerals, touches of seaweed and light incense aromas that develop fine intensity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin. This Pomerol is very well poised with perfectly judged acidity. Whilst not a match for Titans like the 1989 or 2010, this La Conseillante possesses nuance and sophistication, a precision that does justice to the name. It should be earlier-drinking that other vintages that I have tasted, though given the terroir and track record, it would not surprise me if it gives 25 years of drinking pleasure. Tasted twice with consistent notes.

Old school charm, but this is a little underpowered, soft rose petals, finely spun tannins, blackberry, raspberry, undergrowth, soft baked spices, this is ready to drink, and will keep delivering for another decade. Jean-Michel Laporte's last vintage as director.

The 2014 Château La Conseillante offers notes of iron, dark chocolate, roasted herbs, and graphite, with a touch of mint emerging with air. Medium-bodied and nicely balanced, it has juicy acidity and fine tannins but remains somewhat straightforward. It's best enjoyed over the coming 10-12 years.

Light to mid crimson. Sweet red cherries. Juicy even with the firm, dry, chalky tannins. Fresh and lively and very different from most of the Pomerols in this line up. Much more joie de vivre, and persistent too. (JH)

Tasted blind. Unusually sweet-fruited on the nose. A bit volatile and jammy. Rather hard on the palate, the tannins thick in texture, though there’s plenty of freshness. (JH)
