A major sleeper of the vintage, as I thought from barrel several years ago, the 2010 is one of the best d’Angludets I have tasted. It should drink nicely for 15-20 years, but there is no reason to defer your gratification. It is a sexy, up-front, precociously styled d’Angludet with a deep purple color, loads of floral notes intermixed with licorice, blueberry, black raspberry and, of course, the classic creme de cassis. It is dense, ripe, soft, round and surprisingly accessible for a 2010. A beauty! Drink: 2013 - 2033

Tasted at the UGC tasting in London. The Chateau d’Angludet 2010 has a lifted bouquet of blackberry, raspberry and black plum, with hints of soy and fresh tobacco underneath. The palate is rounded and supple on the entry, very well balanced with great purity and precision towards the finish. This is one of the most sophisticated wines from this estate that I have tasted in recent years. Bravo. Tasted November 2012.

Tasted blind. Deep garnet with brick rim. Mature aromas of undergrowth but also lots of sweet, mature black fruits, a bit meaty. Spicy dried fruits though not raisined. Leathery and developed on the palate but still offering pleasure in its spicy complexity. A wine to chew rather than sip. (JH)
