Tasting Notes and Scores
A bright, pure, unadorned style, with lovely red currant, raspberry and blackberry fruit laced with ample violet and perfumy spice notes. The long, silky finish has nice latent grip. Delightful. —J.M.
Wine Spectator
This opaque purple wine has sweet fruit, and lots of it, giving up notes of blackberries and black currants, but not a lot of additional subtlety or complexity. It is juicy, relatively powerful, but at the same time, monolithic and not as nuanced or impressive as many of its nearby neighbors. Nevertheless, there is a lot here, and time should prove to be favorable to this relatively back-strapping, muscular, full-bodied Margaux. Forget it for 7-8 years and drink it over the following 25. 2010: There is an inner-core of concentrated fruit as well as lots of tannin in this 2010, but it comes across as backward, reserved and restrained. Nevertheless, I believe there is outstanding potential from the 2010 Dauzac, it is just not as showy and flamboyant as many of its peers. This is about as masculine Margaux as one can find.

Tasted at the UGC tasting in London. The Dauzac 2010 has a very expressive bouquet with blackberry, raspberry leaf, autumn leaves and tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins, dusty black fruit and a finish that offers plenty of weight and length, but needs a little more complexity and nuance. Perhaps this has gone into its shell a little? Tasted November 2012.

A blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon and 34% Merlot, raised in 70% new oak, the Dauzac ’10 has a very classic nose that reminds me of Brane-Cantenac or du Tertre with notes of blackberry leaf, sous-bois and a touch of tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied with bold, ripe, grainy tannins, good backbone, certainly one of the most intense Dauzac wines in recent years, but maintaining good precision to the finish. This deserves 5-6 years in bottle. Very “classic” Margaux. Tasted April 2011.
