Tasting Notes and Scores

92-94 BI

Bordeaux Index

92-93 JS

This shows lots of sweet tobacco and blueberry character. Full and silky with fine tannins. Keeps fresh. Long. Well done.

James Suckling

89-92 WS

Shows high-toned cherry, tobacco leaf, grilled herb and lightly mulled spice notes. Very formed already, with a lingering dusty finish as the herb note peeks out more and more with air. Tasted non-blind.-J.M.

Wine Spectator

89-91 RP

Tart acids give this dark ruby/purple-tinged wine a crunchy, fresh, lively feel on the palate. Composed of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot, this medium-bodied 2011 reveals loads of finesse and purity, but is slightly superficial compared to recent vintages such as 2009 and 2010. It should drink well for 10-15 years.

Wine Advocate

89-91 NM

The 2011 Duhart Milon is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot and offers a typically foursquare bouquet with blackberry, wild hedgerow and pencil lead. It does not have the aromatic penetration displayed by the 2010 last year. The palate is medium-bodied and demands time to unwind, displaying broody dark berries and a touch of sous-bois and black olive. There is a Graves-like tincture towards the finish. This is a sedate, medium-term Duhart. Tasted April 2012.

Neal Martin

88-89 MS

[75CS/25M] Ripe, Merlot fruit to smell, fresh and lightly mineral; medium full, a fleshy core, fresh and finely, drily tannic; crisp, gently juicy flavour in a slightly austere mould, with firm textured tannin for the weight of fruit, modest complexity and a dry finish of medium length. 2019-30 [M.Schuster, Bordeaux Mar/Apr 2012]

Wine Lister

17-17 JR

Drink 2018-2030 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot. Inky with black core. Sweeter smelling than the Carruades. Light oak spice. Then cedary and so silky on the palate. Just glides though there's plenty of tannin there. Creamy long finish. (JH)
