(a blend of 40% cabernet sauvignon, 37% merlot, 17% cabernet franc and 6% petit verdot): Purple ruby. Strikingly pure aromas of black plum, blackcurrant, violet, ink, vanilla and white chocolate on the captivating, aromatic nose. Very fresh and clean on entry, then rich and suave in the middle, with lovely inner-mouth perfume to the flavors of strawberry, blackcurrant, vanilla and white pepper. This has a much creamier, softer mouthfeel than the more penetrating, minerally 2010. Finishes long and clean, with persistent inky and sexy floral notes. Very well balanced and focused, this is a great effort from du Tertre and strikes me as potentially one of the estate's 5 or 6 wines of the last 40 years.

A seductive, opulent, textured Margaux with notes of licorice, black fruits, asphalt, pen ink and truffle, this is one of the finest du Tertres ever made. It has a hedonistic quality to it, but at the same time, there is great class, precision and freshness to this full-bodied, concentrated, but very supple-textured wine. Drink it over the next 20+ years. Drink: 2012 - 2032

A very sexy, seductive style of wine has been produced by Du Tertre in 2009. A dense ruby/purple color is accompanied by ripe notes of red and black fruits intermixed with subtle smoke, ink, and damp earth. The lusciousness continues on the palate with an opulent, layered, rich mouthfeel. Medium to full-bodied with not a hard edge to be found, but plenty of ripe tannins, the overall impression is one of a hedonistic and intellectually pleasing claret that should drink beautifully for 20+ years. This is a sleeper of the vintage among the classified-growths. (Tasted two times.)

The medium garnet colored 2009 du Tertre conjures notions of kirsch, black raspberries, warm plums and potpourri on the nose with hints of sage and menthol. The palate is medium-bodied, soft, juicy and seductively approachable with a lively finish.

Bright ruby-red. Cassis, red plum, tobacco leaf, minerals and spices on the nose, lifted by a floral topnote. Silky, suave and elegantly styled; not a particularly opulent wine but nicely polished and balanced, and already offering a lovely perfumed character. Finishes firmly tannic, spicy and long, with harmonious acidity contributing to the impression of class. A terrific vintage for this property.

Tasted at the chateau and UGC. Cropped at 33hl/ha, a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot (the highest ever) and 15% Cabernet Franc, 15% pressed wine. The harvest started 28th September until 13th October. The nose is very tight at the moment, quite masculine with the Cabernet Franc lending quite a leafy accent. Moderate definition. The palate is medium-bodied very taut but nicely balanced, the tannins a little firmer and less supple than others, but it is in synch with the fruit. More introspective than say, Marquis de Terme, with an agreeable tang of dark chocolate towards the dry, slightly obdurate finish. Moderate length. I am sure this will show better in another 1-2 months time. Tasted March 2010.

[55CS/22M/15CF/8PV] Ripe, roasted fruit on the nose - sweet cabernet; very nicely balanced, rich and fleshy middleweight, fresh in acidity, very fine in tannin; long, velvety, juicy cored, sweetly ripe fruit to taste, quite floral, very fine gravel aromas alongside the lightly dry tannin on the finish. Excellent fruit length. Typical du Tertre up front, fleshy, forward, round character. 2015-25
