A juicy wine with strawberry and blueberry character. It's full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a fresh finish. Lots of ripe fruit. Excellent second wine of Lynch-Bages. Better in 2015.

Brilliant fruit, with super clean and intense aromas of fruit and flowers. Full body, with super refined tannins. 58 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 33 percent Merlot, and 9 percent Cabernet Franc.

Sleek and pure, with seamless cassis, blackberry and bitter cherry notes laced tightly with iron and sweet spice. Long and pure. Probably the best second wine yet from here. -J.M.

A blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Franc, the Deuxieme Vin of Lynch Bages has blackberry, wild hedgerow and a touch of tobacco on the nose. Good definition. The palate is medium-bodied with a ripe, succulent entry, powdery tannins with a fine blackberry, raspberry and cassis-tinged finish. Moderate length. Fine. Tasted March 2011.

(26% GV, 13.8%) [58CS/33M/9CF] Dense and mineral to smell with a subtle cedary oak; brisk, moderately concentrated middleweight with gentle dry tannin; long, and freshly sweet and spicy; not particularly concentrated, dense or fleshy, but elegant and fresh, a real "table" wine. Very Bordeaux! To enjoy young.

Deep garnet colored, the 2010 Echo de Lynch Bages has a nose of baked black cherries, dried mulberries and redcurrant jelly with hints of tobacco leaf, fallen leaves, camphor and potpourri. Medium-bodied, the palate has a racy line and chewy edge, while the fruit is quite subtle, finishing a little short and grippy.

Tasted blind. Deep smudgy garnet. Delicate aroma of spice and black fruits with a touch of cigar box. Smells invitingly stony/mineral too. Herbaceous but not green. Tight, chewy and refined. Tightly wound yet well balanced and elegant. Some tea-leaf as it opens. (JH)
