Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2019 Enclos Tourmaline is pure Merlot picked on 3 October at 32hl/ha and limited to just 3,400 bottles. It has a very ripe bouquet with blueberry and cassis fruit, maybe just a little OTT compared to some of Vignobles K (aka proprietor Peter Kwok) other cuvées. The palate is more refined with finely chiseled tannins, a fine bead of acidity, quite linear and steely towards the finish with a tang of spice on the aftertaste. Once the aromatics are tempered by time, this could turn into a superb Pomerol.

The 2019 Enclos Tourmaline offers up aromas of plums, wild berries, sweet spices, loamy soil and creamy new oak. Full-bodied, ample and succulent, it's elegantly muscular, with an ample core of fruit, lively acids and powdery tannins. Derived from holdings on the plateau respectively located between Le Pin and Trotanoy, opposite Clinet, and opposite the château of La Fleur-Pétrus, this is the most serious Pomerol in Peter Kwok's portfolio.

The 2019 Enclos Tourmaline is plump, racy and richly-textured to the core. Inky dark cherry, plum, mocha, chocolate, licorice and spice give Enclos Tourmaline its fleshy, succulent personality. I imagine the 2019 will drink well right out of the gate; it is already pretty irresistible.

Tasted blind. Relatively light nose. Blackcurrant flavour. Not quite as dense and concentrated as some of its peers. (JR)
