The 2016 Feytit-Clinet comes across as very ripe and pushed, with less of the explosive energy of some past vintages. Or maybe the powerful tannins are simply buried by the sheer intensity of the fruit. Waves of fruit saturate the palate in a dramatic, distinctive Pomerol that shows the more virile side of the appellation. The 2016 Feytit Clinet, a blend of 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc, has such purity on the nose that you would almost consider this to be a Grand Cru Burgundy! It unfolds in the glass, black cherries mixed with raspberry coulis, just a little new oak to be integrated as it will during its barrel maturation. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe blackberry and bilberry notes, here certainly in Pomerol territory with sage and black truffle emerging towards the persistent finish. Jéremy Chasseuil has crafted a wonderful follow-up to the impressive 2015 Feytit-Clinet and I cannot wait to taste this from bottle. - Wine Advocate #230, April 2017
