Tasting Notes and Scores
A linear and dense wine that sneaks up on you with fantastic depth of fruit and structure. Full and racy. Shows finesse and muscle. Better than 2015? - March 2017
James Suckling
Blended of 79% Merlot and 21% Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Fugue de Nenin reveals plum preserves, baked black berries and black cherries with wafts of cigar box and pencil lead. Medium to full-bodied, plush and packed with black fruit and minty layers, it finishes long.

The 2016 Fugue de Nenin is soft, open-knit and gracious, all of which make it an attractive wine to drink in its youth. In 2016, the Cabernet Franc is quite a bit higher (21 percent) than it typically is, which seems to give the flavors lovely aromatic freshness and tension. - vinous.com, April 2017
Antonio Galloni
The 2016 Fugue de Nenin is a blend of 79% Merlot and 21% Cabernet Franc, matured in 25% new oak and with 13.9% alcohol. It has a straightforward blackcurrant and raspberry scented bouquet, maybe a little disjointed at the moment, but it will meld together with time in barrel. The palate is medium-bodied with a grainy texture, a splash of balsamic tincturing the tertiary red fruit with a savory finish. Drink over four or five years after bottling. - Wine Advocate #230, April 2017

Pale rim and mid purplish crimson. Pure, direct, very fresh nose. Excellent nose but a tiny bit stringy on the end. A very good second wine but not a grand vin. Good persistence. Drink 2023-2031. - jancisrobinson.com, April 2017
