A very juicy and nicely chewy young red with black berry, chocolate and cedar aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied with integrated tannins and a fresh and persistent finish.

A serious Pomerol even in the lightest of vintages, so it really can relax into its natural character in 2022. Strict tannins, but that is often the case for this wine, relaxing into liqourice, cocoa bean, espresso, rosemary, underbrush, slightly drying on the finish, but this has a ton of impact, it has all the elements for ageing, an impressive wine.

Unwinding in the glass with aromas of dark berries, licorice, cherries and spices, the 2022 Gazin is medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with excellent depth at the core, sweet tannins and a long, expansive finish. Despite the drought, the vineyards performed better in 2022 than in 2020 at this address, and the result is one of the better vintages for Gazin in recent years.

Lots of spiced black cherries, currants, chocolate, and spicy notes emerge from the 2022 Château Gazin, a richer, medium to full-bodied Pomerol with plenty of mid-palate depth, building tannins, and outstanding length. The tannins will need to be watched here, but this is clearly an outstanding wine in the making.

93% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc. Very dark with a black core. Fragrant with pure cassis and a touch of crushed stones and a cedary note. Nicely dry in its firm, taut tannins. Really dry but nicely so. Lots of underlying dark fruit and a savoury aftertaste. The alcohol well hidden. (JH)

93% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. Cask sample. Deep purplish crimson. Similar dried-herbs notes to La Croix de Gay. And much less sweetness on the palate than some of its peers. Perhaps it will blossom into something distinctively special but for the moment it looks a little ungenerous compared with other 2022 Pomerols. Rather tough tannins here in abundance. (JR)
