Tasting Notes and Scores
A juicy red with berry and cherry character in addition to chocolate and hazelnut undertones. Full-bodied, silky and beautiful. Serious Bordeaux and made by the family that make Pomerol’s legendary Lafleur. Drink now or hold.
James Suckling
The Fronsac home of the Guinaudeau family – owners of no less than Pomerol superstar Lafleur. Nice, pure, fresh ripe nose. Supple, elegant texture. Lovely fruit weight, black fruit lifted by some red raspberry notes. Good balance. (85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc.)
Bordeaux Index
The 2015 Grand Village is a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc picked between the September 20 and October 10. It has a fragrant cranberry and raspberry coulis scented bouquet that has ample fruit concentration. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannin, crisp acidity, harmonious in the mouth with a touch of graphite on the finish. This is one of the best Grand Village that I have tasted from barrel.
Neal Martin
85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc picked 2 weeks later on 9 and 10 October.
Brooding crimson. Beautiful fragrance. Beautiful structure. Very exuberant and yet fresh too. Clean and bright. Complete. Long. Juicy. Likely to be VGV.
