Tasting Notes and Scores
Usually this is a little extravagant at primeur, so I am surprised by the composure on the nose with pure blackberry, cassis and plum aromas. The palate is very tannic and muscular with some dry, gritty tannin on the entry: black fruits laced with spice and espresso, the finish more controlled with good acidity and focus. This should melt together into a fine Haut-Marbuzet. Tasted April 2011.
Neal Martin
2010: More restrained with a better integration of oak than some of the past wines, Haut-Marbuzet-s 2010 possesses copious black cherry, black currant, licorice and spice box notes, medium body, a typically supple, silky texture and a precocious, up-front personality. Consume it over the next ten years.
