This wine displays plenty of black raspberries, black currants, espresso roast, Asian soy and plum sauce along with some mocha and chocolate. Beautifully rich, firm, and full-bodied, with sweet but abundant tannins, this is a classy, noble style of wine that should be forgotten for at least 5-7 years and drunk over the following 20. Remarkably, the alcohol, like most of the wines in the J. P. Moueix stable of Pomerols and St.-Emilions, hit 14.5%. Drink: 2018 - 2038

A tiny production of only 1,000 cases in 2010 (versus 1,500 in most vintages), its proprietor Christian Moueix has turned out a more tannic, structured, backward style of Hosanna than the 2009 or, for that matter, the 2008.

2010: There are approximately 1,500 cases of this 80% Merlot/20% Cabernet Franc blend. Owned by Christian Moueix, Hosanna was carved out of the old estate of Certan Giraud with the finest parcels going in to Hosanna. The dense purple-hued 2010 exhibits a sweet bouquet of melted chocolate, black raspberries, black currants, coffee and Asian plum sauce. Full-bodied and rich with serious tannin, good acidity and alcohol that must be pushing toward 14.5%, it will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring and should last for 20-25 years.

Beautiful nose with ripe strawberries, red apple and vanilla. Wonderful floral notes too. Sumptuous ripe red fruit and juicy acidity on the palate with finely knit tannins. Full-bodied and very juicy with a soft silky texture and good length. It's hard not to drink it now. But much better in 2017.

Incredibly perfumed, with flowers and berries. A full bodied wine, with silky tannins and a bright and fruity finish. Not the weight of the Lafleur Petrus, but beautiful.

If you're looking for dark chocoalte, boysenberry, truffle and flowers, you can the right place. Silky, smooth and sensuous, this plush, sweet, fresh wine leaves you with an opulent finish. Another 5 years in the cellar and this is going to explode!

Deep garnet colored, the 2010 Hosanna gives up baked black cherries, dried mulberries and fruitcake scents with hints of fragrant earth, baking spices and dried roses. Full-bodied, the palate has impressive freshness and lovely, ripe, plush tannins supporting the spicy fruit, finishing with great length.

(14.5% alcohol): Good deep red. Sexy aromas of plum, raspberry, chocolate and tobacco. Superripe, lush and sweet, with a remarkably round texture to the concentrated flavors of red fruits, caramel, mocha, spices and iron. As creamy as this is, there's solid underlying structure here from the wine's cabernet franc component. Finishes plummy and very long, with palate-saturating sweetness.

(14-14.2%) Densely fruity in a fairly closed way as yet, but a sweet black cherry clear to smell; fine firm balance; concentrated, elegant middleweight wine, firm, linear, slightly austere bearing; but sweet cored, long, mineral infused and complex to taste, with a firmly tannic impression on the finish, and a long fruit presence too. Deep, saturated purple-ruby; this really stains the glass. Wild aromas of fresh blackberry, raspberry, chocolate and white pepper: you can really smell the old-vines cabernet franc here! Then very big and rich, with intense lavors of fresh red fruit, cocoa and spicy underbrush. A highly concentrated, almost brawny wine that expands in the glass and builds on the extremely long, smooth finish. This will need plenty of time in bottle, but already strikes me as the most promising Hosanna to date. Drink from 2020 through 2045.

The 2010 Hosanna shows much more ripeness on the nose compared to its peers, more red fruit with perfumed cherries and bergamot tea aromas, rose petal and sage. The palate is silky smooth with what feels like a fair proportion of Cabernet Franc. It does not quite kick on towards the somewhat oaky finish, though this is very seductive. Unlike other Pomerols, you could broach this now.

Luckily for us, also at the Hansons' dinner table was a guest whose avowed favourite wine was Pomerol, and Anthony H is an extremely generous host. This was absolutely captivating bottle. Tasting it from cask in 2011 , I found it pretty tannic but thought it had potential. Then in 2014 , tasting it blind at the Southwold tastings, I found it 'exotic' and 'evolved'. This bottle seemed to combine all those elements plus at least 10 years' bottle age to provide a gloriously rich but neither heavy nor excessively sweet whole. Lots of vitality and just the sort of glamour one seeks in a top Pomerol. Perhaps it was the Hanson Spiral Cellar what did it. (JR)

Tasted blind. Deep and smudgy garnet. Lifted and perfumed with senescent red fruits. Very mature flavours, leathery and developed but harmonious and the tannins are smooth and chocolate-textured. (JH)
