The 2021 La Cabanne is pliant and quite giving, with lovely forward fruit and plenty of character. Sweet floral and spice top notes lend aromatic intensity. This stylish, fruity Pomerol is not terribly complex, but it is certainly easy to like. It should offer a decade or more of fine drinking.

The 2021 La Cabanne offers up generous aromas of sweet berries, fruitcake and pencil shavings, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and seamless palate that's pure and charming, with supple tannins and a sweet core of fruit. It will offer pleasurable near-term drinking.

The 2021 La Cabanne has an attractive bouquet of blackberry, raspberry and rose petal scents, touches of black truffle coming through with time. The palate is medium-bodied and sapid, with light tannins, dark berry fruit, fine acidity, firm grip and moderate length. This should give a decade of drinking pleasure.

Notions of cherries, licorice, sweet berries and dried herbs introduce the 2021 La Cabanne, a medium to full-bodied, seamless and succulent wine built around bright acids and powdery tannins.

94% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc. Dark colour. Lightly leafy black fruit. In the aroma the Cab Franc seems to show more than the Merlot but perhaps this is just-ripe Merlot not ripe-sweet Merlot. Dry and a bit flat on the palate. (JH)
