Tasting Notes and Scores
I must say, I really like the nose of this La Croix Figeac – nicely controlled with dark cherry, blackberry and a touch of cedar – beautifully integrated oak here. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, edgy tannins, good acidity and plenty of body on the finish. It just misses a little persistency but still, this is a very well crafted Saint Emilion for the vintage. Tasted April 2013.
Neal Martin
This shows a solid core of fruit with a mineral, berry and dry strawberry character. Medium-to-full body, with silky tannins and a fresh finish. Structured and racy. This is the same level as 2010.
James Suckling
This is pure and open, with good lift to the plum, red currant and perfumy tea notes. Features some of the vintage’s sinewy feel, but the structure remains relatively fine-grained, showing plenty of solid depth through the finish. —J.M.
