The pale to medium gold colored 2009 Lafaurie-Peyraguey features candied citrus and dried tropical fruits with crème brûlée and chamomile notes with a waft of honey. The palate is fresh, youthful and zippy, finishing with loads of tropical layers.

There is some SO2 masking the nose here, which is difficult to assess. However, the palate is well balanced with fine minerality, bright citrus fruit, orange zest, a touch of white peach and apricot, good tension towards the finish with a dash of lemongrass on the aftertaste. There is very good weight and botrytis on this Lafaurie Peyraguey that linger seductively.

Mid gold; fresh and mineral to smell; very nicely balanced, rich yet fine boned elegance, silky textured and with a marked liqueur-like character, Sauternes richness but no excess weight, with a clear Botrytis complexity and spice, long and even to taste and with excellent fruit length. For the second year running, a very fine, complete Lafaurie. 2017-35+
