Tasting Notes and Scores

88 RP

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 01/01/2003 Fully mature, with a very complex nose of roasted coffee, mocha, cedar, and Provencal herbs, all backed up by some sweet cherry fruit, this medium-bodied, relatively elegant, soft, very accessible wine is already showing considerable amber to its garnet color. The finish also begins to fall off a bit, but the complexity and delicious attack make for a very satisfying drink. Anticipated maturity: Now-2006. Last tasted, 3/02. The 1990 is noticeably less concentrated than the 1989. The bouquet offers aromas of tobacco, coffee, mocha, and red fruits intertwined with scents of new oak. In the mouth, the wine is medium-bodied, moderately endowed, and admirably pure, with moderate tannins and crisp acidity - unusual for a 1990. Drink it over the next 10-12 years (88)
