The past few years have added a lot to this wine. Now, you find a more elegant, supple, silky wine with a focus on its core of truffles, plums, and chocolate. You still find a touch of greenery in the finish, but there is so much more going on, it is easy not to be distracted. Drink from 2023-2035. Tasted Feb 2023

I am not convinced the 2000 La Fleur Petrus is going to eclipse the 1998, which performed even better in a recent tasting. Nevertheless, it is a terrific effort from this estate, sandwiched between the hallowed vineyards of Petrus and Lafleur. A deep plum/ruby color is followed by aromas of mocha, kirsch liqueur, loamy soil, spice box, and licorice. It is an opulent, medium to full-bodied, big, substantial yet elegant, precise Pomerol displaying beautiful purity. It is just beginning to drink well, and should continue to age for another 10+ years.

The 2000 La Fleur-Pétrus is a vintage I have not tasted for a while. This has an intense, enveloping bouquet that wraps its arms around your senses and gives it a gentle cuddle. Minty black fruit, wilted violets and sage emerge with time. The palate is well-defined and structured, displaying a bit more backbone than I recollect on previous bottles. Cedar and graphite impart a nuanced Médocian tang on the finish. Delightful. Probably reaching its peak in the next four to five years. Tasted blind at Medlar restaurant dinner. Jan 2023

As in the blind tasting, a tobacco leaf hint and singed balsam elements emerge first, followed by a large core of warmed plum and blackberry. Dark in profile, with plum cake and ganache lining the finish, revealing a hint of smoldering charcoal. Still needs a bit of time to stretch out.—Non-blind La Fleur-Pétrus vertical (December 2015). A delicious nose of black olives, brown sugar, and sliced plums. Full bodied but shy, with a dense palate and soft and silky tannins. Flavors of milk chocolate, plums, and light vanilla bean come through. This is so good now, but wait three to four years to really see it shine.

Bright ruby-red. Superripe, highly perfumed aromas of raspberry, tobacco, minerals and spices. Sweet, lush and deep, with liqueur-like red fruits complicated by notes of tobacco leaf and fresh herbs. Very silky, voluminous Pomerol with real sweetness and inner-mouth perfume. A thoroughly seductive vintage for this chateau.
