The Providence 2005 is very sweet and generous on the nose with dark cherries, blueberry and a touch of fresh prune. It becomes more and more floral in the glass, though never quite achieves the precision of its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with quite an oaky entry that needs more integration. There is plenty of depth here, moderate complexity and hints of coffee emerging towards the finish. It is just a little ostentatious, which seems little incongruous within the J-P Moueix stable. Bright ruby-red. Aromas of currant, mocha, truffle and smoke. Fat and plump but with only moderate cut to the sweet flavors of red fruits, truffle and smoke. Offers plenty of sex appeal and a high-pH mouth feel but could use a bit more energy (I would never have picked this blind as a wine from the Moueix stable). Finishes with substantial dusty tannins.

Dark red; a lovely sweet and fragrant nose; medium full, fresh, firmly tannic; a very nice sweet fruit, of moderate complexity, you sense the class, but the tannins are a bit rustic here, and the overall refinement lacking; good, but ... The first year of the Moueix purchase, they vinified the wine without having managed the vineyards through the year. 2018-30?

Mid crimson. Fresh and lively. Real spine to this wine. Racy and reminds me of a sword. Clean even if it leaves the palate rather suddenly. Mountain-stream stuff. (JR)
